The practice of interfamily marriage is still relatively common among Arabs because of the structure of the Arabic society. Arabs, are organized in tribes based on common ancestry, and when it comes to marriage, the only opportunity is to inbreeding is more than common.
This social structure has been common in the Arabic desert (now countries) for centuries. .

Most humans learned from experience millennia ago of its devastating affect inbreeding has upon the offspring.
(Please see here the effects of inbreeding:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wi
The question is why does the practice persist among Arabs in face of severe genetic consequences?
Several factors might be involved here including religion, education, socioeconomic status and culture.
The effects on the genetic pool of the Arabic lands after centuries of this practice have been devastating.
“Spinal muscular atrophy and the gene that causes it, along with several other serious genetic disorders, are common across the Arab world today an average because even today, 45 percent of married couples are related,
Widespread inbreeding in Saudi Arabia has produced many genetic disorders, including the blood diseases of thalassemia, a potentially fatal hemoglobin deficiency, and sickle cell anemia. Spinal muscular atrophy and diabetes are also very common, especially in the regions with the longest traditions of marriage between relatives. There are also found links between inbreeding and deafness and muteness.

Now one could say this could be considered an Arab cultural practice not linked to Islam. However, when one looks at the only reliable data for other Muslims (non racial Arabs), they come from Western countries that have accepted an unprecedented influx of Muslims immigrants, and are now paying the financial as well as social costs of this Muslim practice.

The problem within the Pakistani community in the UK , with regards to birth defects and the drain it is creating on resources has become so severe that the British government is now issuing warnings to its Muslim Pakistani immigrant community.
“Now (Too late?) the UK is issuing an official warning about Muslim inbreeding.
(February 10, 2008 article in the Times Online,
http://www.timesonline.co.
Medical research suggests that while British Pakistanis are responsible for 3% of all births, they account for one in three British children born with genetic illnesses.
“If you talk to any primary care worker they will tell you that levels of disability among the . . . Pakistani population are much higher than the general population. And everybody knows it’s caused by …[ interbreeding ].
These problems of genetic illness are not found in the Hindu Indian population in the UK, and when one considers that Pakistani and Indian people are of the same race, (previously of the same culture – but still quite similar ) but have been separated religiously since the Arab invasions and Islamisation, of the sub-continent.
It would seem, using deductive logic that historically the only link these different cultures have is Islam.
I will continue this investigation soon, time permitting. Before I do, those Muslims interested might also wish to research the effect of inbreeding on IQ and mental retardation.

The question to think about is: Could the practice of interbreeding be the key to the success and longevity of Islam? Could it be that the genetic and mental illnesses borne of interbreeding are a factor in the unquestioning nature of the majority of Muslims regarding spirituality?
As hard as these numbers are to look at (from scientific journals, government health , financial and social ministries) I would like your opinion on some further research I have found that could be linked to the debilitating effects of Muslim inbreeding on social status and poverty (Using the UK as the example)

Now, the typical politically correct person in the Western world would say that the only reason for the failure of any particular group in the Western world is totally, and completely the fault of the indigenous people (i.e. it is the racism of the native that halts the economic process of non-whites).
As stated in the Post above, Pakistanis, Bengalis and Indians come from the same basic racial group, and this is where my investigation ran into some startling statistics.
For example, ”more than half of people from Bangladeshi and Pakistani ethnic backgrounds live in low-income households.
By contrast, a quarter of people from an Indian ethnic background live in low-income households,”
*******only a bit higher than the rate for White people.****
Now if Indian Hindus are basically on economic parity with White British, then the charge of racism, that the Muslims of the UK suffer from discrimination and therefore the fault for their economic failure is the cause of white people is totally discredited.
That almost half of Muslim people from the Subcontinent live in poverty but only 25% of the Hindu population (roughly equal with the white population) live in poverty, then their has to be another reason, than the tired excuse of blaming native British people for their failure.
The statistics become even more alarming when you consider these facts.
"Among those in working families, around 55% of Bangladeshis, 45% of Pakistanis and 30% of Black Africans are in low income. These rates are much higher than the 10-15% for White British, White other and Indians."
Of course the facts presented in this post will ruffle the more politically correct individuals on this board, but the question remains, and do you see a link with the massive inbreeding of the Muslim population and the devastating affects that it has on said population and the economic position the majority of these people find themselves in?
And what, other than a ban on interbreeding could be done to help them?

Greetings Jack Hodge
I am very pleased to come upon your blog. May I suggest you look up 4 Freedoms and if you are interested, I will invite you and you can then have a link from that page to your blog, as well as simply post your blogs there.
Inbreeding is already banned and why cousin marriage and bigamy/polygamy is ignored when Msulims practice these ignorant 'customs', is the key question that will remainn unanswered until white liberals stop their bleating about cultural relativity and enforce the laws of the land.
I pushed to get a book accepted which was a reader for people learning English as a Second language, it was translated into Urdu as well. Called, The Custom of Marrying Cousins', it was published in 1998 by Gatehouse Books. But until the laws of the land are applied to Muslims then they will continue to live by the code that gives them the exploitative edge.
